the Year

club selected Diane
Zhitlovsky and
Kurt Krueger
as our Man & Woman of the Year.
Congratulations to both!

2nd round, at the NW Ski Club
Council level, among all the
local ski clubs, the two winners
for the title of Man and Woman
of the Year are: Colleen
Walter (Skiyente ski club) and
Dave Rasmussen (Schnee
Vogeli ski club). They will
represent the NWSCC at the Far
West Convention.

Our
club has adopted a 2-mile section of Highway 26, mileposts
51-53. We'll meet in Mt. Hood Skibowl's parking lot, on the
west end of it. Then we'll earn some good karma
cleaning up our two miles of the highway.
12:00
(noon) - approximately - The club will cover the cost of lunch at the Brew Pub
in Government Camp, right after we are done with the cleanup.
Let's replenish our energy and enjoy each other's company.
After
that, optionally, we can also visit Skibowl's Adventure Park,
which officially opens this weekend, with over 20 attractions,
including a zip line, bunjee jumping, go karts, mountain biking,
the alpine slide, and more.

All proceeds benefit the WORLD CUP DREAMS FOUNDATION, a 501[c]3
non-profit organization created "by the athlete, for the
athlete" to further the growth and development of the nation’s
best skiers.
This
fundraiser helps “to provide National Alpine Ski Team members
with the financial resources needed to help them achieve their
ski racing goals and compete at their highest level...through
financial support and disability insurance coverage."
There will ski clinics for both children and
adults at Timberline with US Ski Team members as coaches. The
fee is $350 per day, or $600 for the weekend, which includes
breakfast, lunch, and training.
For everyone, there will again be a Saturday
night banquet and silent auction at the Multnomah Athletic Club
for $125 per person. There is some really great stuff at the
auction, including autographed photos and ski racing suits
donated by the athletes.

Fantastic hike with numerous loop or longer extension options. The
trail closely follows Siouxon Creek, which is full of great water
features and excellent swimming holes.

Appreciation Night
July 21 (Wednesday), 6 pm.
This is a
special version of the regular monthly meeting of NW ski club
representatives, usually held at the Shanghai Noble House on Macadam
Ave.. But, this one will be a bit more festive and will be held at a
different location.
Location: at Sheri Parshall’s Blue Lake residence at
20721 NE Interlachen Lane, Fairview, OR 97024.
The menu
will include BBQ hamburgers, sides, and desserts. Come early (call
first) if you wish to go boating.
Club
officers are invited, as well as anyone the club wants to
“appreciate.”
At the
meeting, you will receive information on next year’s planned Council
activities, and a chance to mingle with other club officers. The
winners of the Northwest Ski Challenge will be announced.

Almost 40 years
of the EdgeSet club (one of our former halves),
35 years of the
Plaza ski club (our other half), and
10 years of the
combined Plaza/Edgeset (aka. Mountain High) club.
Let's invite all our current and former club member
to a reunion. Can you still get in touch with some of our older
members? Please invite them to come.
There will be a bicycle ride just before the picnic. Gather at the
parking lot by the river.
The picnic is a potluck. We'll have hot dogs. Bring something else
to share.

Mt.High
Deschutes River Raft Weekend
Aug 20-22, 2010.
This has become an annual tradition for our club. A weekend of
rafting and frolicking in the sun on the Deschutes River at Maupin,
OR. All of the rafting is done on Friday (starting at noon) and
Saturday (all day). Sunday is just for relaxing.
Trip includes:
Camping: Thursday, Friday and
Saturday night in Maupin City Park..
RV space available for an additional
$20.00 a night.
Camp sites, near the river in main
park (Site 1).
Rafting: (Row, Paddle or just
ride) Friday and Saturday. We’ll provide the rafts.
FRIDAY – We will meet at the park at noon and shuttle up river to
Harpin Flat, raft 18 miles down to Sandy Beach.
SATURDAY – We will raft from the park to Sandy beach in the morning,
shuttle back to the park for lunch and then shuttle up to Harpin
Flat and raft the upper section in the afternoon.
Food: Lou’s- Q will cook
chicken pork ribs and BBQ beans on Saturday only, but bring a salad,
or dessert, plus your own drink for Saturday dinner. Also, for other
meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), bring your own food
and drinks.
Cost: Camp, raft, dinner
= $90.00 pp, (Non Members $100.00) Non members must sign a
membership form/liability release before participation.
Camp, permits and dinner = $50.00

Permit and dinner only = $20.00
